Xaiden Bignell of the Nelson Leafs is this week’s Young Guns, presented by the Next Shift Network, as he scored two goals and added three assists in two games.
Bignell scored a goal in their 4-1 loss to Castlegar, then had a goal and three assists in their 7-0 win over Spokane. The Red Deer product felt he played well defensively and offensively, with a focus on details.
“I played to the best of my ability,” said Bignell. “I read the ice well and stuck to the game plan, while contributing offensively with different teammates, which shows everyone is a threat.”
Bignell has 25 points in 34 games for the Leafs, including 12 goals. Three of his goals are game-winners.
