Leafs sign 2 Saskatchewan born forwards

The Nelson Leafs are proud to announce the signings of 2004 born forwards Leighton
Partington and Hunter Sperle to the roster for the 2022/23 season.

Partington, from Evesham, SK, joins the Leafs after a strong final U18 season and post season
with the West Central Wheat Kings U18 AA. Partington finished the regular season with 14
goals, 22 assists, for a total of 36 points in 28 games. The left winger would also add 18 points in
12 playoff games on his teams journey to the SAAHL U18 League Championship Series.
Partington was the captain of the Wheat Kings last season.

Sperle, from Unity, SK, will join the Leafs after amassing 26 goals, 19 assists in a total of 32
games also with the Wheat Kings. In the post season, the right winger continued to fill the net
at a torrid pace with a total of 13 goals in 12 playoff games. Sperle wore an “A” for the Wheat
Kings last season. Sperle and Partington played on the same line last season.

“Both Hunter and Leighton are prototypical Leaf players. They are highly skilled and play the
game with an edge,” says Head Coach Adam DiBella, “It is always nice to add players with
strong leadership qualities, I anticipate our amazing fans will enjoy watching Hunter and
Leighton play.”

The Leafs are excited to welcome Hunter and Leighton and their families to the Leafs
organization for the next season and we look forward to seeing them in our new jerseys next
season.
